Frequently asked questions

Why does the app ask for my location?

To look up zmanim/candle-lighting times for the right city automatically. It's a When-in-Use permission — the app only reads your location while it's open, only to resolve which city's times to show, and it's never stored against any account (there are no accounts). If you decline it, use the city or zip code search instead — everything else works the same.

Do I need to create an account?

No. The iOS app has no accounts, no sign-in, and no sign-up — open it and it works. The web app at app.zmanym.com has an optional account for people who want a saved shul dashboard or email reminders, but it isn't required to look up times.

Are the times accurate?

Zmanim are computed against Hebcal, the same data source most halachic-times tools are built on. If a time looks wrong for your location, email us the city and date and we'll check it.

Does the app work offline?

Version 1 fetches times live from our servers each time you open it, so it needs a connection. An on-device engine (works with no signal) is planned for a future release.

Do you show ads or sell my data?

No. No ads, no third-party trackers, no data sale — see our Privacy Policy for the details.
